In Super Metroid on the other hand you have a map that clearly shows you how areas connect and you have clues like a "room" in the screen that nothing seems to connect. The game was designed early 90's and at the time games had secret things. I never rant on the interwebs but because I fell so in love with the games in the first place the disappointment was even bigger.

Or am I (and this is also very likely) missing something important? In that case I already apologize. Great way to make me/Samus really look like a smart and cunning hero.
#Super metroid randomizer playthrough upgrade#
Next time I come to a stop I will first start doing random stuff before I go all the way back to see if I missed an important upgrade or tool to proceed.

I didn’t think ‘wow, cool trick game designers’, i thought ‘this completely takes out the logic of this game and makes it random’. Found it out by going through a walkthrough. I have been searching the map for answers for hours, when eventually i had to shoot the floor to proceed. It’s completely random (and not in a good way). Love that.īut how come - in Brinstar at the long orange shaft – you have to shoot a random piece of floor (!?!) to proceed. You need to connect the dots (ie backtrack in the map) to find a solution. I love the way every Metroid game (until now) is a combo of platformer, adventure shooter and one big-ass puzzle. Now playing Metroid Prime on the Gamecube and Super Metroid on the 3DS.
